Along with many years of practical experience, Jane Wass is a qualified teacher with the Raqs Sharqi Society.
She aims to create a relaxed atmosphere where women of all ages and levels of ability can reach their own potential in the dance and benefit from an increased feeling of well-being.
The dance itself combines cardiovascular exercise with muscle strengthening and toning which aids posture, flexibility and body-awareness. Regular classes and intensive workshops cover the different styles (see History of Dance page), and introduce students to historical and contemporary cultural aspects to help deepen their understanding.
